The Butterfly Set pattern will be released on Saturday, 18th of April.
First of all, I have to admit—it takes me a long time to release a complex pattern. I’ve been creating patterns for about three years now, and I finally feel like I’m learning to be patient: choosing the right design and giving it the time it truly deserves.
The Butterfly Set has been a challenging one to bring to life, but I’m so glad I waited for this moment—when my diagramming and pattern-writing style finally feel refined and aligned with my vision.
I’m genuinely happy (and a little proud) of how my pattern style has evolved. I’ve also been revisiting older designs, editing and updating them into new versions that better reflect where I am now.
This will be my first large-scale pattern created in LaTeX—a document coding language (finally putting some of my IT university skills to use!)—complete with edited images and colorful, easy-to-follow instructions. It feels like a meaningful milestone on my journey
I received great feedback from my testers, and I’m incredibly grateful for all their suggestions—they truly helped me refine and improve the instructions. What felt especially heartwarming was hearing that they expected the pattern to be much more difficult, but thanks to the diagrams and step-by-step photos, it was actually easy to follow—that's truly rewarding after hours and hours spent drawing those diagrams!
I began testing with a size M–L, since it’s a complex pattern and I wanted solid feedback before expanding into more sizes. Interestingly, the sizing challenge resolved itself during testing—my testers used different yarns and hook sizes, which naturally resulted in a range of sizes for the design. For XS–S, I later adjusted the pattern by reducing the number of rows.
Using all the photos and information gathered, I created a Look Book—another great suggestion from one of the testers. It showcases the different versions of the piece, along with details like hook size, yarn choice, and the model’s bust measurements.
The next big step will be the Butterfly Wings themselves. I haven’t made them since 2023, and I don’t have any written instructions yet, so it will be a big project for me as well.

Before I start working on that, I’m planning to release a few smaller patterns as a little dopamine reward for myself, while also expanding my collection.

I really hope you gonna enjoy the pattern as much as my testers did and I cannot wait to see all the versions of the Butterflies.
